Gold pools in the middle of one face and thins out into rust and a deep green towards the edges, with dark pitting scattered through it and fine veining running between, so the sphere reads more like weathered metal than like glass. A fluted metal collar closes the neck, and a dark green ribbon runs through the ring above it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt hangs beside the smaller Mavu. At 20cm across and 0.615kg it wants a clear space around it and a fixing that will take the weight: a window catch, a hook in a beam, the centre of a mantel arrangement, or the strongest branch on a tree, low down and close to the trunk.
