marsala-stoneware-bowl-21cm-brown
Marsala Stoneware Bowl 21cm - Brown

Description

This is a round stoneware bowl, 21cm across and 8cm tall, holding 1400ml. Inside, a repeating pattern of four-petalled flowers, each one outlined in fine dots, covers the surface from the rim to the centre against a brown ground. The outside is just as detailed: a band of raised dots runs below the rim between fine grooved lines, and rows of leaf and diamond shapes stand out in relief down to a neat foot. A glossy surface catches the light across the pattern, so the bowl looks good whether it is full or sitting empty on a shelf.

At 1400ml this is a serving bowl rather than a single portion: big enough for a salad or a pasta dish to share in the middle of the table, or a pile of fruit on the kitchen counter. It suits a dining table where the brown pattern sits happily beside wood, linen and other earthy tableware, and it is as at home at an everyday family supper as at a weekend lunch with guests. Because it is microwave safe, leftovers can go straight back in to be warmed through without moving them to another dish.

It is made of 100% stoneware and weighs 0.79KG, so it feels solid in the hand. Stoneware is a dense, hardwearing ceramic that copes well with daily use. It is dishwasher safe and microwave safe, but it is not oven safe, so we would keep it for serving and reheating rather than baking. For styling, set it on a plain wooden board or a linen runner where the pattern inside can be seen from above, and fill it with something bright, such as oranges or lemons, so the fruit stands out against the brown.

Specification

Height

8cm

Diameter

21cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Brown

Capacity

1400ml

Dishwasher safe

Yes

Microwave safe

Yes

Oven safe

No

Food safe

Yes

Weight

0.79KG

Frequently Asked

Can this bowl go in the dishwasher and the microwave?

Yes.
