malina-floral-stoneware-plant-pot-blue
Malina Floral Stoneware Plant Pot - Blue

Description

This is a stoneware plant pot in blue, 17cm across and 13cm tall, and what sets it apart is the cluster of flowers and leaves raised on one side, modelled in relief so the petals stand proud of the body. The rest of the pot is covered in a rippled, crinkled texture, and the glaze sits deeper in the hollows and paler over the ridges, so the surface reads as layered shades of blue. The rim is softly wavy rather than perfectly level, which gives the piece an organic, irregular outline. At 0.8KG it has a reassuring weight for its size.

At this size it suits a small houseplant: a cactus, a succulent or a compact trailing plant. Set it on a deep window ledge, a sideboard, a bookshelf or a desk, where the raised flowers can face the room. Because the decoration sits on one side only, it does best in a spot seen from the front, such as a mantelpiece or the centre of a console table. It also makes a thoughtful present for anyone who keeps plants, and it holds its own empty, as a decorative piece on a shelf.

Stoneware is a dense, hard-wearing ceramic, which gives the pot its sturdy feel. The glaze varies from piece to piece, so the depth and spread of the blue will differ slightly on the pot you receive; that variation is part of its character. The maker gives no care details and does not say whether there is a drainage hole, so for plants that need free drainage, the simplest approach is to keep them in a plastic nursery pot and stand that pot inside this one. To style it, pair it with natural wood, rattan or pale linen so the blue glaze has room to show, and let a plant with fine, spiky or trailing growth contrast with its rounded body.

Specification

Height

13cm

Diameter

17cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Blue

Finish

Due to nature of the glaze colour variations may occur

Weight

0.8KG

Frequently Asked

What size is the pot?

It is 17cm across and 13cm tall, a comfortable size for a small houseplant such as a cactus, a succulent or a compact trailing plant.

What is it made of?

It is made of 100% stoneware, a dense, hard-fired ceramic, finished in a blue glaze with raised flowers and leaves on one side.

Will my pot look exactly like the photographs?

Not exactly.
