The whole surface is punched with small dots in close rows and a seam runs right round the widest point where the two halves meet. The finish is antique brass, darker in the punched hollows and brighter on the ground between them. A brass collar sits on the neck with a black lampholder above it, and the cord is black fabric.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis is a base only: no shade and no bulb. At 40cm across it is wide enough to be the object on a sideboard rather than a lamp standing on one, and at 7.35kg it is heavy enough that the surface under it needs to be a solid one. A wide shade suits it and a narrow one will look stranded. It takes one E27 bulb up to 60W, the cord runs 2.5m, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe base is aluminium finished in antique brass, and the punching is done by hand, so the rows wander slightly and no two bases carry the same pattern.
