lilu-rattan-lamp-shade-brown
Lilu Rattan Lamp Shade - Brown

Description

Lilu is a lamp shade woven in the shape of a bear's head, with two rounded ears rising from the crown and a raised snout on the front of the face. It is made of braided rattan and iron in a warm brown. The features are handpainted, so the bear reads as a friendly character even from across the room. At 40cm across and 30cm tall it is a generous, rounded dome, a size that fills the centre of a child's ceiling rather than getting lost up there.

We see it most at home in a nursery, a child's bedroom or a playroom, where the light fitting can be part of the fun rather than something nobody notices. Hung above a play rug or a reading nook, it gives children a face to look up at as they settle down at bedtime. It suits a calm scheme of wood, linen and woven baskets as readily as a brighter, more colourful room. An open rattan weave lets light through its gaps, so a shade like this throws a soft, dappled pattern across the walls and ceiling once the bulb is on.

The rattan is braided over the rounded shape and the face details are handpainted. Because rattan is a natural material, the weave varies a little from one shade to the next. There is an opening at the crown for a pendant fitting, and the base is open. The shade weighs 0.8KG. It is sold as the shade on its own, so you will need a ceiling pendant fitting and a bulb of your own; the styling props shown are not included. For styling, keep the rest of the room quiet and let the bear do the talking: a plain wall, a wooden chest of drawers and a woven basket or two pick up the rattan without competing with the face.

Specification

Height

30cm

Diameter

40cm

Material

Rattan, Iron

Colour

Brown

Finish

Braided rattan, Handpainted

Weight

0.8KG

Frequently Asked

What is the lamp shade made of?

It is made of braided rattan and iron, and the bear's face details are handpainted onto the woven shade.

How big is the bear lamp shade?

It is 40cm across and 30cm tall, a rounded dome with two small ears rising from the top, and it weighs 0.8KG.

Does it come with a cable, lampholder or bulb?

No. This is the lamp shade on its own, so you will need a ceiling pendant fitting and a bulb of your own.
