liam-water-hyacinth-baskets-set-of-2-natural
Liam Water Hyacinth Baskets Set of 2 - Natural

Description

This is a pair of round baskets in braided water hyacinth, a smaller and a larger one, with a natural colour and a scalloped rim that rises and dips in soft waves around the whole opening. The smaller basket is 38cm across and 40cm tall, the larger 44cm across and 45cm tall, so both are deep, generous baskets for bulky things rather than little trays for keys. The water hyacinth is braided into thick, twisted strands and woven on a diagonal, which gives the sides a rope-like texture you can feel under your hand.

At that size they make good storage for the things that never have a proper home: a folded throw or a blanket for the sofa, spare cushions, a bundle of magazines, soft toys or a child's building bricks at the end of the day. Slide one under a console table in the hallway or living room, where its height fills the space beneath without crowding it, and stand the other by the sofa or at the foot of a bed. The two sizes work as a pair side by side, or split them between rooms, one for the bedroom and one for a reading nook. Because they are open at the top, whatever you keep in them stays in easy reach.

Each basket is made from water hyacinth and iron, and the finish is braided water hyacinth throughout, with the rim worked into a rounded, plaited edge that follows each scallop. Water hyacinth is a plant fibre, so its tone shifts a little from strand to strand. The shape is a simple drum that curves in gently towards the base, so it looks at home in a plain modern room as easily as in a cottage. For styling, let a throw spill over the scalloped edge: the waves of the rim show best with a little fabric draped across them.

Specification

Basket 1

Height 40cm, Diameter 38cm

Basket 2

Height 45cm, Diameter 44cm

Sold as

Set of 2

Material

Water Hyacinth, Iron

Colour

Natural

Finish

Braided water hyacinth

Weight

3.6KG

Frequently Asked

What sizes are the two baskets?

The smaller basket is 38cm across and 40cm tall, and the larger is 44cm across and 45cm tall, so both are deep enough for throws and blankets.

What are the baskets made from?

They are made from water hyacinth and iron, with a braided water hyacinth finish that gives the sides a thick, twisted, rope-like texture.

Is it one basket or two?

It is two.
