It puts the shade above eye level for anyone walking past, so the lamp stays hidden, while keeping the pool of light on the path instead of throwing it across a lawn.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt belongs along a path, at the turn of a drive, beside steps, on a terrace edge or at the end of a planted border. The copper head weathers: bright when it arrives, dull within weeks, brown over a year or two, and greener over far longer. The cast iron base and galvanised steel column stay in gloss black enamel, so the copper sits as a head above a dark stem.
