It is the union, the connecting part of a modular rod lighting system. It is one of the pieces that gives the system its shape, where slim black rods carry opal white globes beneath gold-coloured caps. It measures 250cm tall, 106.6cm wide and 15cm across, so the finished line reads as a long, linear composition that runs across a space rather than hanging as a single point. Because it belongs to a system, it pays to plan the whole arrangement before you order, so every part sits exactly where you want it.

The Kupetz system suits rooms where a long run of light makes sense: a dining room with a long table, an open living space, a study or a generous hallway, where its horizontal line can echo the furniture and the shape of the room. It suits anyone who wants a lighting scheme that feels considered and architectural rather than a single shade in the middle of the ceiling, and who enjoys arranging parts to fit a particular space. It is rated IP20, which means it is for dry rooms only, so keep it to living rooms, bedrooms, studies and dining rooms. At 250cm tall, it is best planned for rooms with generous ceiling height, where the whole composition has room to breathe.

The design is credited to e27 and Tim Brauns, and the system's clean geometry of rods, caps and globes reflects that careful, modular thinking. It is a Class I fitting, which means it is designed to be earthed. As a system fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install, so the practical step is to settle the full layout first, then hand the plan to your electrician with every part ready. The Kupetz light head and rod in our photographs are not included.

Specification

Height

250cm

Width

106.6cm

Diameter

15cm

IP Rating

IP20

Protection Class

Class I

Lead time

Made to order, usually delivered in 4 to 8 weeks

Frequently Asked

What is the Kupetz Linear 40 Union?

It is a lighting accessory in the Kupetz range.
