The body is combed with fine vertical ribbing from just under the shoulder down to the base, and above that the top is left smooth and slopes inwards to a mouth set back from the outer edge. The glaze is reactive, so it breaks pale and sandy over the ridges and runs darker terracotta in the grooves between them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is made for outside as well as in. There are drainage holes in the base and a bung to plug them with, so the same planter goes out on a terrace with the holes open and onto a floor indoors with the bung in.
