The copper lies thickest near the rim and breaks up as it goes down.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThirteen centimetres of wall above a tealight puts the flame well down inside the glass, so what carries across a room is the glow through the crackle rather than the flame itself. That suits a mantelpiece, a sideboard or a hall table, where the holder is seen from the side rather than from above.
