kiko-5-x-7-landscape-photo-frame-antique-brass
Kiko 5 x 7 Landscape Photo Frame - Antique Brass

Description

The Kiko is a landscape photo frame for a 5 by 7 inch print, 18cm wide, 13cm high and 1cm deep. Two panes of glass are held in a slim brass band soldered around the edge, with the metal left uneven and aged rather than polished, so the frame carries glass front and back and nothing solid behind the picture. Two small brass loops sit on the top edge, and a printed sari tie is knotted through them.

Because both faces are glass, whatever sits behind the frame shows through around the picture, so the wall colour becomes the mount. That suits a pressed flower, a postcard, a ticket or a drawing as much as a photograph. A wall of them hangs at several heights and in both orientations, each on its own coloured tie, with the tie left long enough to hold a clear triangle of wall above the frame. Knotted at the apex, it hangs from one nail or hook rather than from fixings at both corners.

The brass is soldered around the glass with traditional tools, which leaves weld marks on the joins of every frame. Each tie is cut from a recycled sari and no two are alike, so the colour differs from frame to frame. The Kiko is made for a 4 by 6 and an 8 by 10 print as well, and in portrait as well as landscape, so a group on one wall can mix both.

Specification

Height

13cm

Width

18cm

Depth

1cm

Aperture

5 x 7 inches

Material

Glass & Brass

Finish

Antique Brass

Orientation

Landscape

Wall Hung

Yes

Weight

0.32kg

Frequently Asked

How do I hang photo frames like this?

Each Kiko hangs from a printed sari tie knotted through two loops on the top edge, so it takes one nail or hook rather than two.

What size picture does it take?

A 5 by 7 inch print, landscape.

Is there a backing board?

No. The frame is glass front and back, so the wall shows through around the picture.

Will every tie be the same?

No. Each tie is cut from a recycled sari and is one of a kind, so no two carry the same colour or pattern.

What are the marks at the corners?

Weld marks, left where the brass is soldered around the glass by hand.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a soft dry cloth so dust does not build up, and use a microfibre cloth in a circular motion on the glass.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0729/8993/3835/files/KF0404_01_packshot_hero_5e2ca877-0c9b-443c-adfe-7beb6426b10c.jpg?v=1790868330
