The sleeve is hand bent metal under an antique brass finish, mottled dark and light with a fine brushed grain running through it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe opening is as wide as the vase itself, so a loose armful of stems goes straight in and falls open rather than being held upright by a narrow neck.
