katrina-stoneware-cups-365ml-set-of-4-grey
Katrina Stoneware Cups 365ml Set of 4 - Grey

Description

These are four grey stoneware cups, each holding 365ml and measuring 11.5cm across and 8cm tall. Those figures make them wide, generous cups rather than tall mugs, roomy enough for a milky coffee or a proper breakfast tea. The outside is covered in a raised pattern of overlapping scales, and the reactive glaze settles into it, so the edge of each scale catches a different tone from the hollow beside it. Each cup has a curved loop handle with a small curl at the top where your thumb rests.

With four in the set, they cover everyday coffee for a small household or a pot of tea shared at the kitchen table on a slow weekend morning. The 365ml capacity suits a cappuccino or a latte with room for the foam, and the wide bowl is just as good for hot chocolate on a cold evening. Between uses they look at home on an open shelf or a dresser, where the textured glaze earns its place, and they stack one on another, which keeps a crowded cupboard tidy.

Stoneware is dense and holds heat well, and these cups go in both the dishwasher and the microwave, so reheating a coffee left too long on the desk is easy. They are not for the oven. The finish is a reactive glaze, which shifts as it fires, so the grey varies in depth from cup to cup and no two of the four are quite alike; we think that is much of their charm. The styling props shown are not included. For a relaxed table, pair them with plain plates and a linen cloth and let the scaled glaze do the talking.

Specification

Height

8cm

Diameter

11.5cm

Sold as

Set of 4

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Grey

Finish

Reactive glaze

Capacity

365ml

Dishwasher safe

Yes

Microwave safe

Yes

Oven safe

No

Food safe

Yes

Weight

1.24KG

Frequently Asked

How much does each cup hold?

Each cup holds 365ml, which makes it a generous cup for a latte, a cappuccino or a large tea rather than a small espresso cup.

Can the cups go in the dishwasher and the microwave?

Yes, the maker states that they go in both the dishwasher and the microwave, but they are not for use in the oven.

What size are the cups?

Each cup is 11.5cm across and 8cm tall, so it is wider than it is tall, with a broad rim and a rounded bowl.

Will all four cups look exactly the same?

Not quite.
