The cuts are deep enough to catch the light on one side of each groove, and the stain sits darkest where the chisel has been.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt stands on a hinged strut on the back rather than hanging, and it is not made for a wall. At 25.5cm tall it is a shelf, sideboard or bedside frame, and it stands upright alongside the smaller Janoni. The carved border is wide, so the frame takes up noticeably more space than the print inside it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe wood is mango, carved by hand before a deep stain is worked over it, which is what makes the grain and the cut edges read as strongly as they do.
