iya-reclaimed-wood-wardrobe-natural
Iya Reclaimed Wood Wardrobe - Natural

Description

A two door wardrobe in reclaimed wood, 190cm high, 100cm wide and 58cm deep, standing on four square legs. Each door is framed and carries three panels one above the other, the framing left thick and square edged rather than moulded, and each hangs on three iron hinges set on the outside of the frame. Two slim iron handles meet at the centre. Inside there is a hanging rail across the top, two shelves below it and an open floor under those.

At 190cm high it wants a wall with headroom, and it needs 58cm of clear depth plus room for two doors that swing back almost flat against the front. The hanging rail takes the greater part of the height, with the two shelves and the floor filling the rest; the floor takes shoes and the shelves folded knitwear. One of the two shelves lifts out, which leaves a single tall bay under the hanging clothes. At 141.4kg it is a lift for two people and it stays where it is first put.

The wood is reclaimed, cut from ceiling beams taken out of old Indian houses, so the grain, the tone and the old marks in it run differently from board to board and from door to door. The carcass is put together with dovetail jointing. The Iya range also runs to a bed in two sizes, a chest of drawers in two sizes, a tall chest and a bedside table.

Specification

Height

190cm

Width

100cm

Depth

58cm

Material

Reclaimed Wood

Colour

Natural

Weight

141.4kg

Frequently Asked

What is inside it?

A hanging rail across the top, a fixed shelf and a second shelf that lifts out, and an open floor below them.

What size is it?

190cm high, 100cm wide and 58cm deep, on legs.

What is the wood?

Reclaimed timber, cut from the ceiling beams of traditional Indian houses and chosen board by board for its grain and its patina.

How do I look after it?

Wipe the surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth to take off dust and moisture, always along the grain. Mild soap and water can be used, but not much water, and spills want soaking up straight away. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away from it, and keep rubber and plastic off the surface, because both can react with the finish.

Where should it not go?

Out of strong direct sunlight, which fades the wood, and away from extremes of heat and humidity, which can crack and split it.
