The base is one piece: a bulbous foot that swells out at floor level, a long stem tapering up from it, and a small disc under the top. The marble is a warm sandy stone shot through with darker flecks, cut as a thick slab and left rough around the edge, where the top face is smooth.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 25cm across, the top holds a glass and a book and not much more. The stem is narrow for most of its height and the foot is smaller than the top, so the table pushes in close to a chair arm without the base meeting the chair leg.
