Its body is shaped into deep waves that sweep diagonally from the rim to the base. The rim follows the same rhythm, rising and dipping in soft scallops rather than running straight, so the whole pot looks as though it is turning slowly. Its sides swell gently before drawing in towards the foot. It measures 20cm across and 19.5cm tall, a medium size that gives a good-sized houseplant room, rather than a pot meant for a small cutting or a succulent.

Being almost as tall as it is wide, it sits on a windowsill, a sideboard, a side table or the end of a hallway console, at a height that makes the plant the point of interest. The waves catch the light as it moves through the day, so it works well near a window in a living room or bedroom, where the relief shows at its best. It suits a trailing plant whose stems can spill over the scalloped edge, or an upright leafy plant whose shape echoes its curves. For a calm, natural look, the white glaze sits easily beside pale wood, linen and other ceramics, and it makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who keeps houseplants.

Stoneware is fired at a high temperature, which makes it dense and hard-wearing. The glaze is worth a note: the maker states that, due to the nature of the glaze, colour variations may occur, so the shading across the waves may differ a little from one pot to the next. At 1.6KG it has a solid, reassuring weight, worth bearing in mind on a narrow shelf. For styling, give it a plain surface and a little space, so the curving lines read clearly, and keep nearby pieces simple; one plant in this pot is often enough to finish a quiet spot in a room.

Specification

Height

19.5cm

Diameter

20cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

White

Finish

Due to nature of the glaze colour variations may occur

Weight

1.6KG

Frequently Asked

What is the plant pot made of?

It is made from 100% stoneware with a white glaze.
