The body is a squat cylinder that steps in at the shoulder to a short plain neck, and the lid is a heavy disc with a rounded edge that overhangs the neck and comes to rest on the shoulder. The glass is a deep green, reading near black where the wall thickens and much paler where light passes straight through it. The hammering shows as a close, fine dimpling over the body, and the top of the lid carries the same working turned in a radiating pattern.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 10cm each way the pot holds cosmetic pads and the other small things that otherwise sit loose on a basin surround or a dressing table. The lid rests on the neck rather than sealing into it, and there is no rubber seal, so it is not an airtight jar.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe glass is recycled, and the making runs the same way each time: waste glass washed of its impurities, crushed, melted and moulded, then worked over with traditional tools to raise the dimpling. Every pot takes that working differently.
