ika-large-mango-wood-glass-lantern-natural-clear
Ika Large Mango Wood & Glass Lantern - Natural & Clear

Description

The Ika is a lantern 21cm tall and 19.5cm across: a clear recycled glass hurricane sitting in a turned mango wood base. The glass is a rounded bowl, widest across the middle and drawing in slightly towards a plain open rim, so it is curved rather than straight-sided. The base is a squat drum on a stepped foot, its surface run through with fine vertical striations that stand up out of the grain.

It takes a pillar candle, dropped into the glass so the flame sits well below the rim. At 19.5cm across the bowl this is the large size, and it stands on a sideboard. Indoor use only.

The hurricane is recycled glass: discarded glass collected, cleaned and melted before being blown by hand into a new piece. The base is mango wood, finished with a controlled burning process that brings up the grain and leaves the surface deeply textured in a warm mid-brown. The Ika is also made in a small at 16cm. The candle is not included.

Specification

Height

21cm

Diameter

19.5cm

Material

Recycled Glass & Mango Wood

Colour

Natural & Clear

Weight

1.02kg

Frequently Asked

What size candle does it take?

A pillar candle.
