Each face is a panel of ribbed glass set into a metal edge, and one of the six is hinged as a door with a wire catch at its side. The glass is silvered rather than plain, blotched and clouded where the silvering has broken up, and the ribs run vertically down every panel. The frame is a warm brass with rust breaking through at the corners.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 27cm tall and 15cm across it stands on a surface rather than on the floor: a sideboard, a hall table or the end of a shelf. With a candle lit inside, the flame reads as a broken band of amber behind the ribs rather than as a single point. The door swings open on one face to reach the candle.
