ibo-small-reclaimed-wooden-slatted-cabinet-natural
Ibo Small Reclaimed Wooden Slatted Cabinet - Natural

Description

The Ibo small cabinet is a squared box 60cm tall, 50cm wide and 35cm deep, standing on four short stub legs cut down from the corner posts. A single louvred door hangs on pivot pins set into the top and bottom rails rather than on side hinges, so it swings out clear of the opening, and a small dark metal pull sits on its face. Inside, one fixed shelf splits the interior into two compartments. The carcass is solid planked reclaimed wood, pale and dry on the outside and a warmer honey tone within.

At 60cm this stands at about the height of a made bed, which puts it beside one as a bedside cabinet or at the end of a sofa as a side table. The top is a solid planked board of 50 by 35cm, which takes a lamp and a book with room to spare. The louvres are gapped rather than solid, so whatever is on the shelf shows in outline through the door and the air keeps moving through both compartments.

The wood is reclaimed, and this piece travelled on the outside of an Indian truck before it was cut down and rebuilt. Saw marks, splits, nail holes and shifts of tone run through the boards, most of all across the top and the front rails, and the pale finish sits unevenly over them. The Ibo range also runs to a large slatted cabinet, a low one, a tall one and a slatted sideboard in the same wood.

Specification

Height

60cm

Width

50cm

Depth

35cm

Material

Reclaimed Wood

Colour

Natural

Weight

22kg

Frequently Asked

How many shelves are inside?

One, fixed, dividing the interior into two compartments.

Is the door glazed?

No. It is a louvred panel of gapped slats, so the contents show in outline and air moves through.

How does the door open?

It hangs on pivot pins set into the top and bottom rails, so it swings out clear of the opening rather than folding back against the side.

Will every cabinet look the same?

No. Every piece of reclaimed wood arrives with its own weathering, so the tone, the grain and the splits fall differently on every cabinet and none of them matches another.

How do I look after it?

A soft damp cloth is enough for regular wiping.
