horatio-oval-bulkhead-light-ip64-blackened-brass
Horatio Oval Bulkhead Light IP64 - Blackened Brass

Description

The Horatio is an oval bulkhead light with the build of a ship's lamp: a solid brass body in a blackened brass finish, with clear ribbed glass set behind a sturdy brass cage. The cage bars cross the glass in a neat grid, and a fixing lug sits at each corner. It measures 25cm long, 16cm wide and 16.5cm high and weighs 1.7KG, a size that sits comfortably beside a front door without crowding it. It is rated IP64, which means it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water, so it can live outdoors in British weather through every season.

It belongs by a front door, in a porch, on a garden wall or on the side of a boathouse, anywhere a sturdy light with a working, seafaring character feels right. The maker describes the Horatio as taking its influence from traditional maritime lighting, and says that maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and names; the caged glass and chunky corner lugs make that plain. The blackened finish is dark and understated against brick, render or painted timber, and it suits a cottage, a coastal house or a converted barn as happily as a modern home with dark window frames.

Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, and the maker says the brass on the Horatio ages naturally, so its look changes gradually as a patina develops. The cable enters through a gland at the end or the rear, and a brass blank is included to replace the gland on the entry you leave unused. The maker also says individual components can be replaced if needed, which keeps the light in service rather than heading for the skip. It takes one E27 (ES) screw lamp up to 18W, and the lamp is not included, so it is worth buying one at the same time. As a mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Specification

Finish

Blackened Brass

Material

Solid Brass

Diffuser

Clear Ribbed Glass

Lamp

1 x E27 (ES) 18W Max (Lamp Not Included)

IP Rating

IP64

Width

16cm

Height

16.5cm

Length

25cm

Cable Entry

Cable Gland at the End or Rear (Brass Blank Included)

Weight

1.7KG

Supply

230V ~ 50Hz

Protection Class

Class I

Certification

CE

Country of Origin

Greece

Manufacturer's Warranty

2 Years

Downloads

Installation Instructions (PDF)

Frequently Asked

Can the Horatio bulkhead go outside all year?

Yes.
