hetty-stoneware-vase-19-5cm-blue
Hetty Stoneware Vase 19.5cm - Blue

Description

Hetty is a stoneware vase with a rounded, gathered form, 21.5cm across and 19.5cm tall, so it sits wider than it stands high. Its body is shaped in soft vertical ribs, each edged with a line of small raised beads, and the shoulder curves in towards a gently scalloped rim. A textured relief covers the whole surface, and the blue glaze pools in its hollows and thins over the raised edges, so the texture reads clearly from across a room. Stoneware is a dense, hard-fired clay, and at 1.9KG this vase has a reassuring weight in the hand.

Because the opening is narrower than the body, it gathers a loose bunch of dried grasses or long stems and holds them upright, while its low, broad shape keeps a tall arrangement steady. We like it on a side table beside an armchair, on a hall console or along a sideboard, where the ribbed surface catches the light from a nearby window. It also stands well on its own: the relief and the glaze give it enough presence to work as a purely decorative piece on a shelf or a mantelpiece. It suits a living room or a hallway, and makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves handsome ceramics.

It is made entirely of stoneware and finished in glaze. The maker notes that, due to the nature of the glaze, colour variations may occur, so the blue settles a little differently on every vase and yours will be its own. At 1.9KG it feels substantial and sits solidly on a table or shelf. The styling props shown are not included. For styling, a few stems of dried grass or seed heads in natural tones sit well against the blue, and a woven or wooden surface beneath it brings out the texture of the glaze.

Specification

Height

19.5cm

Diameter

21.5cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Blue

Finish

Due to nature of the glaze colour variations may occur

Weight

1.9KG

Frequently Asked

What material is used for the Hetty vase?

It is made of 100% stoneware, a dense, hard-fired clay, finished in a glaze that gives the textured surface its blue colour.

How big is the vase?

It is 21.5cm across and 19.5cm tall, so it is wider than it is high, and it weighs 1.9KG.

Is every vase exactly the same colour?

Not exactly.
