A gunmetal cylinder with a deeply knurled body, the cross-hatch running the full height with a plain turned band near the top, standing on a thick disc of black marble. The marble is polished and shows grey and white veining running across the face, so no two bases are the same. The metal is a cool dark grey with a satin sheen and the knurling catches the light as fine texture. There is no shade and no shade ring, so whatever lamp is fitted is the whole of what is seen. It measures 12cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a lamp for a side table, a desk or a bedside, close enough to reach the switch from where you sit, and it lights the surface it stands on rather than the whole room.
