A large ball built up out of clustered bubbles in clear glass, dozens of rounded blisters packed over the whole surface so the sphere has no smooth face anywhere. The glass is water clear, so the lamp inside shows straight through and every blister acts as a small lens, throwing a scatter of bright points around the room. It hangs from a low polished chrome cap with a black braided flex above it. The bottom of the ball is left open. Unlit it reads as cut crystal rather than as a shade. It measures 25cm across and 22cm tall.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt suits a table, an island or a hallway, hung low enough to be looked at rather than into. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it. Hung at that height the shade is read as an object in the room rather than as a source, and the light lands on the table instead of in the eyes of the people round it.
