It is shaped like an old railway ticket, a neat rectangle with a notch cut into each short end, and finished all over in a warm gold. The front reads The Polar Express in flowing script above ROUND TRIP in bold raised capitals, framed by a dotted border with a little floral flourish beneath. Turn it over and the back carries a raised steam locomotive set in an oval, so it looks good whichever way it turns on the branch. It measures 8cm wide, 3cm tall and 0.5cm deep.

It hangs from a dark navy ribbon loop, ready to go straight onto a branch, and its compact size means it sits happily on a full tree or a slim one. We like it near the front at eye level, where the raised lettering catches the glow of the tree lights, but it works just as well on a wreath, a garland across the mantelpiece or a few bare twigs in a vase. Hang it on its own as a small focal point, or group it with other gold and navy decorations for a coordinated look that carries the train journey theme through the room.

The ticket is made from resin, which holds the fine detail of the script, the dotted edging and the locomotive crisply, and the gold finish runs evenly across both faces. To keep it looking its best, dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners, then wrap it in tissue when the tree comes down so the raised details stay clean year after year. It is a small, easy gift to wrap, and a lovely way to start a family tradition of adding one special keepsake to the tree each Christmas.

Specification

Material

Polyresin

Colour

Gold

Height

3cm

Width

8cm

Depth

0.5cm

Weight

0.011kg

Frequently Asked

How big is the train ticket decoration?

It measures 8cm wide, 3cm tall and 0.5cm deep, a neat size that sits comfortably on a branch of any Christmas tree.

Is it decorated on both sides?

Yes.
