An opal glass bell head held in a black band, mounted on a short jointed black arm that ends in a spring clamp with wide serrated jaws. The clamp grips a shelf edge or a headboard and the arm folds at a knuckle so the head can be turned and tipped. The glass is warm white and evenly diffusing with an open rim, and it is the only pale element on the fitting. The flex runs out of the top of the holder and away behind the clamp. Everything but the glass is a flat moulded black. It measures 15cm across and 22cm tall, in glass and metal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is a lamp for a side table, a desk or a bedside, close enough to reach the switch from where you sit, and it lights the surface it stands on rather than the whole room.
