frolena-smoked-glass-linear-pendant-light-chrome
Frolena Smoked Glass Linear Pendant Light - Chrome

Description

The Frolena is a linear pendant light with four egg-shaped smoked glass shades, each hanging on a slim black cord from a long chrome bar. The body is steel with a chrome finish, and the shades are vaporised glass in a black-transparent tone, so they look like mirrored smoke by day and let a soft glow through once the bulbs are lit. It measures 108cm long, 15cm wide and 110cm tall overall. Each shade takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, four in all, and the bulbs are not included, so the colour and warmth of the light are your choice. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

Hung over a dining table, the four shades spread light along its whole length rather than gathering it in one spot. The smoked glass and chrome sit comfortably in a modern or neutral scheme, picking up grey, black and wood tones without competing with them. It works well over a long desk in a study too, or anywhere a row of light makes more sense than a single shade. Because the glass is tinted, the light it gives is gentle and atmospheric rather than bright, so for close tasks a clear bulb at the top of the 40W allowance is the sensible pick.

There is no switch on the fitting itself: it is switched at the wall. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains, and as a ceiling light it should be installed by a qualified electrician; the installation instructions come as a PDF download. Packed, it weighs 2.76KG. The steel bar and fittings carry a chrome finish that reflects the room around it, and the glass wipes clean with a soft, dry cloth once the bulbs have cooled. Order four E27 bulbs alongside it, and the light is ready the day it is fitted.

Specification

Length

108cm

Width

15cm

Overall Height

110cm

Body Material

Steel

Body Colour

Chrome

Shade Material

Glass vaporized

Shade Colour

Black-transparent

Light Source

E27 (bulb not included)

Wattage

Max 4 x 40W

Switch

None (switched at the wall)

IP Rating

IP20

Protection Class

Class I

Voltage

220-240V, 50/60Hz

Weight (packed)

2.76KG

Downloads

Installation Instructions (PDF)

Frequently Asked

Can this pendant hang in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in a dry room, so keep it away from bathrooms, steam and outdoor spaces.

Which bulbs does it take?

It takes four E27 bulbs, one per shade, at up to 40W each.
