Three fragments is the point where the fitting starts to work as a vertical, which is why it sits well beside a mirror, in the narrow return of a hallway or in a pair flanking a door. The light stays soft because it passes through the stone rather than out of an aperture, and because the fragments sit close to the wall it spills around their broken edges as well as through them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe bosses and the concealed backplate are brass, and they are the only metal on show.
