fabien-stoneware-ornament-cream
Fabien Stoneware Ornament - Cream

Description

Fabien is a stoneware ornament built as soft, folded ribbons that loop over and through one another, leaving two open centres, so you see straight through the form in two places. Fine carved lines run across every surface, fanning out from the openings like the gills under a mushroom cap, so the piece rewards a closer look from any side. It stands 26cm tall, 17.5cm long and 13cm wide, and in 100% stoneware it weighs 1.458KG, a reassuring heft for something that looks so light on its feet.

At 26cm tall it is a mid-sized ornament, tall enough to register from across a room yet small enough for a bookshelf, a mantelpiece, a console table or the end of a sideboard. Because the form changes as you walk round it, it works best where it can be seen from more than one angle, such as a coffee table or a deep windowsill. The cream tone settles easily beside pale woods, linen and white walls, and it gives a run of books a sculptural full stop. It suits anyone drawn to organic shapes and natural textures, and it makes a thoughtful housewarming present for someone setting up a calm, neutral room.

The piece is made entirely of stoneware and finished in a glaze, and the maker notes that, due to the nature of that glaze, colour intensity may vary, so the cream of yours may sit a shade lighter or deeper. Stoneware is a dense, hard-wearing ceramic that takes carved detail well, and the lines on this piece catch soft shadows as daylight moves across them. For styling, give it room: it reads best alone or with one low companion, such as a single book laid flat, so both openings stay clear against a plain wall.

Specification

Width

13cm

Length

17.5cm

Height

26cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Cream

Finish

Due to nature of the glaze, colour intensity may vary

Weight

1.458KG

Frequently Asked

What material is the Fabien ornament?

It is made of 100% stoneware, a dense ceramic, and it is finished in a glaze over its carved surface.

How big is it?

It stands 26cm tall, 17.5cm long and 13cm wide, a good size for a shelf, a mantelpiece or a console table.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 1.458KG, so it has a solid, settled feel in the hand despite its open, flowing shape.

Is every piece exactly the same colour?

Not exactly.
