eri-cat-stoneware-candle-holders-set-of-2-multi
Eri Cat Stoneware Candle Holders Set of 2 - Multi

Description

This is a pair of stoneware candle holders, each one a seated cat with a flower opening on its head to hold the candle and a small bird perched at its back. One cat is painted with stripes, the other with dots, and both have handpainted faces with wide, calm eyes, so the pair reads as two characters rather than one shape made twice. Each stands 17cm tall, 9.5cm long and 9cm wide, a modest footprint that sits happily on a narrow shelf or a busy table. Both are 100% stoneware and multicoloured from petal to paw.

Each cat holds a taper or dinner candle in its flower, which makes the pair a natural fit for a dining table, a dresser or a sideboard. Set them at either end of a mantelpiece, side by side at the centre of a table laid for a celebration, or on a bedroom chest of drawers where the two cats can keep each other company. They suit a home that likes colour and a little humour, and they make a cheerful gift for a cat lover, a friend moving into a new home or anyone hosting a festive gathering.

Both are finished in a reactive glaze with handpainted detail. A reactive glaze moves and pools as it fires, so the petals carry a speckled, mottled depth and no two pieces come out of the kiln quite alike; the pattern and faces are painted by hand. Stoneware is a dense, hard-fired ceramic, and the glaze gives both cats a soft gloss that catches the candlelight. For styling, let the cats bring the colour to the room: plain tapers in a quiet shade keep the eye on the stripes, dots and petals. The styling props shown are not included.

Specification

Width

9cm

Length

9.5cm

Height

17cm

Sold as

Set of 2

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Multi

Finish

Reactive glaze, Handpainted

Weight

0.59KG

Frequently Asked

What are these candle holders made of?

Both candle holders are 100% stoneware, finished in a reactive glaze with handpainted detail on the cats, the petals and the little birds.

What sort of candle do they hold?

Each cat holds a single taper or dinner candle in the flower-shaped cup on its head, so the pair gives you two candles standing side by side.

How big is each candle holder?

Each cat stands 17cm tall and measures 9.5cm long and 9cm wide, small enough for a narrow shelf, a mantelpiece or the centre of a modest table.

Are the two cats identical?

No. They share the same shape, a seated cat with a flower on its head and a bird at its back, but one is painted with stripes and the other with dots.

Why does the glaze look slightly different on each piece?

The finish is a reactive glaze, which shifts and pools as it fires, so the speckles in the petals and the depth of the glaze vary a little from piece to piece.

What is included?

You receive two stoneware candle holders, one striped cat and one spotted cat.
