Each piece takes the grain in a different direction, so the face shifts from pale cream through to mid brown depending on which block the light falls across. There are no numerals: two slim brass hands turn over four short brass bars set into the face at twelve, three, six and nine.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 41cm it reads from across a room rather than only from beside it, and the face is open, with no glass over it. It hangs from a plate on the back and sits close to the wall at 2.5cm deep.
