The frame is two long lengths of thin square section rod bent into U shapes and crossed at the floor, so the footprint is an X and the stand reads as line rather than mass. The bowl is reclaimed iron, near black with a satin sheen, with a broad ochre band of rust running round the belly and a paler grey band inside the rim.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 55cm the bowl stands about as high as the arm of a chair, which puts a fern or a leafy plant at eye level for anyone sitting down rather than at floor level.
