Between them the surface is mottled and scratched, with rust and copper tones coming through the black, and faint vertical seams show where the sections of the body meet.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt stands on the floor rather than on a shelf. Wider than it is high, it gives a shrub or a small indoor tree a broad base to sit above, and it stands on bare boards beside an armchair. The opening is narrower than the belly, so a root ball goes in through a smaller hole than the pot suggests. It holds 30,000ml and weighs 4.1kg empty, and it is made for indoor use.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe pot is iron and the iron is reclaimed, so the pitting and the tones coming through the black were on the metal before it was made into a planter and no two pots carry the same pattern.
