This is the extra large, the deepest of the four as well as the widest: 26cm tall and 46cm across. At that scale the taper is very gentle and the shade reads almost as a cylinder, a broad band of plain undyed linen with the slub of the flax showing only at close range.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA shade this size sets the proportion of whatever it sits on, so it wants a substantial floor lamp base or a pendant hanging on its own. On a table lamp it will overhang the surface. The depth means the lampholder is out of sight from any normal angle, and because the linen is pale rather than dyed it still passes light through its sides as well as out of the open ends, so an extra large Embaata lifts a corner instead of concentrating everything into a pool.
