elissa-stoneware-vase-14-5cm-white
Elissa Stoneware Vase 14.5cm - White

Description

Elissa is a small stoneware vase made as a sleeping face: closed eyes with fine lashes drawn into the clay, a raised nose that stands proud of the surface and a quiet little smile. Across the crown, a cluster of petal and teardrop openings is cut right through the stoneware, so the top holds each stem apart and upright on its own. It measures 15.5cm long, 10cm wide and 14.5cm tall, a slim oval rather than a full ball, and weighs 0.5KG.

At that size it suits a bookshelf, a bedside table, a windowsill or the corner of a desk, anywhere a small piece is seen up close and the detail of the face can be enjoyed. At 10cm wide, it fits a narrow shelf or mantelpiece where a wider vase would crowd the edge. A few dried grasses or a single stem through the openings is all it needs, and even empty it reads as a small sculpted head. It makes a warm, characterful gift for a friend who likes a little humour in their home, and it sits happily in a living room, a hallway or a calm bedroom.

It is 100% stoneware under a white glaze with a fine speckle running through it. Every opening and every line of the face is edged in bare clay, which outlines the features neatly, and a narrow unglazed band runs round the foot. Stoneware is fired hard and dense, which is why a piece this size has a reassuring weight in the hand. To style it, keep the company simple: clear glass, plain ceramics or a stack of books let the face stay the focus, and turning it slightly side on shows off the profile of that nose.

Specification

Width

10cm

Length

15.5cm

Height

14.5cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

White

Weight

0.5KG

Frequently Asked

What material is the vase?

It is made of 100% stoneware, finished in a white speckled glaze, with bare clay edges around the openings and the features of the face.

How big is the Elissa vase?

It is 15.5cm long, 10cm wide and 14.5cm tall, and it weighs 0.5KG, so it suits a shelf, a windowsill or a bedside table.

Why does the top have holes?

The openings are cut right through the stoneware so stems can be pushed in one at a time and stay apart and upright, which suits dried grasses or a single stem.

What colour is it?

It is white, with a fine darker speckle running through the glaze and bare clay showing at the edges of the openings and around the foot.

Does it look good without any stems in it?

Yes.
