ditter-seagrass-wall-shelf-natural
Ditter Seagrass Wall Shelf - Natural

Description

This is a wall shelf shaped like a hot air balloon, made from seagrass and iron in a natural finish. The balloon is woven in thick plaited seagrass, with two shelves running across it and a tapering base below them, and a small woven basket hangs beneath on cords, just like the basket of a real balloon. It measures 59cm long, 13cm wide and 105cm tall, which makes it a proper piece of wall storage rather than a small decoration, and it weighs 2.4KG.

It belongs in a child's bedroom, nursery or playroom, where it works as a small bookcase on the wall. The shelves suit a row of picture books, a few soft toys, wooden figures and the little treasures that otherwise end up on the floor, and the hanging basket is just the spot for a small soft toy to ride along as the passenger. Because it lives on the wall, it keeps the floor clear for play and puts the shelves at whatever height you choose when you hang it. It sits just as happily above a changing area, beside a reading nook or over a small play table.

Seagrass is a natural fibre with a slightly irregular texture, so each plait catches the light a little differently and the weave has real depth to it. The seagrass is paired with iron. To care for it, wipe it clean with a moist cloth. The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download, so you can read through them before you hang it. For styling, we like the shelves loosely filled with some of the weave showing between objects: a few books on one shelf, a couple of small toys on the other, and one soft toy riding in the basket, so the balloon shape reads clearly from across the room.

Specification

Width

59cm

Depth

13cm

Height

105cm

Material

Seagrass, Iron

Colour

Natural

Care

Wipe clean with a moist cloth

Weight

2.4KG

Downloads

Assembly instructions (PDF)

Frequently Asked

What is the balloon wall shelf made of?

It is made from seagrass and iron.
