darassa-large-stone-serving-platter-white
Darassa Large Stone Serving Platter - White

Description

The large Darassa is 53cm from the rim to the end of the handle, 40cm across the bowl and 5.5cm deep, carved from one piece of stone. It weighs 6.2kg empty, which is most of what there is to say about handling it: this is a platter that gets put down once. The handle is solid and cut from the same block.

Two thousand eight hundred millilitres is a whole course. A joint and its trimmings, a pile of flatbreads, or fruit for a table of ten all sit inside the rim with room to spare. It is food safe.

The stone is carved by hand in a village workshop in Rajasthan. Tone and veining vary from piece to piece because the material is natural, so no two platters are the same. A smaller Darassa holds 650ml.

Specification

Height

5.5cm

Width

53cm

Depth

40cm

Material

Stone

Colour

White

Capacity

2800ml

Food Safe

Yes

Weight

6.2kg

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

53cm including the handle, 40cm across the bowl, and 5.5cm deep.

How much does it hold?

2,800ml.

How heavy is it?

6.2kg empty.

Is there a smaller size?

Yes, one holding 650ml.

How should I wash it?

After every use, with a mild detergent, to prevent staining.
