cord-mushroom-woodland-velvet-door-stop-rust
Cord Mushroom Woodland Velvet Door Stop - Rust

Description

This is a door stop shaped like a mushroom, worked in a soft corduroy velvet with the ribbing running up and over the cap and down the stem. The photographs show a warm rust orange throughout, a single tone across the whole piece, with the corduroy wales catching the light so the surface reads as a series of fine vertical ridges. The cap is broad and domed and sits above a rounded, waisted base, giving it the plump, upright profile of a woodland mushroom rather than a flat weighted wedge.

It belongs by an internal door you want held open, a bedroom, a nursery, a hallway or a living room, where its rounded form and warm colour sit more like a small ornament than a piece of hardware. Because it is soft all over there is nothing hard to knock against a skirting board or a painted door edge, which makes it a gentle choice for a child's room or a busy hallway. The autumnal tone pairs easily with earthy, natural interiors and with other woodland and nature pieces.

The cover is 100% polyester, made up as corduroy velvet, so it holds its colour well and the pile gives it a soft hand. It is filled with a combination of sand and polyester: the sand gives it the weight to hold a door, the polyester gives it the rounded, springy shape you can see in the photographs. Polyester as a fibre is hard-wearing and resists fading, which suits an object that lives at floor level and gets nudged with a foot. It stands on its own as a bit of fun in a room, and would sit happily beside other earthy-toned accessories.

Specification

Material

100% polyester

Design

Mushroom shape, modern

Construction

Corduroy velvet cover, filled with sand and polyester

Size

24 x 23cm

Frequently Asked

What is this door stop made from?

The cover is 100% polyester, made up as a corduroy velvet with a soft ribbed pile, and it is filled with a mix of sand and polyester.

How does it hold a door open?

It is weighted with sand inside, which gives it enough heft to keep an internal door from swinging shut while staying soft all over.

Is it safe around a child's room?

It is soft on every surface with no hard edges, so it will not scuff a painted door or skirting if it gets knocked, which suits a nursery or bedroom.

What colour is it?

The one shown is a warm rust orange right through, a single autumnal tone with no pattern, so it sits well with earthy and natural interiors.

What size is it?

It stands roughly 24cm tall and about 23cm across, a small rounded piece that reads more like an ornament than a bulky wedge on the floor.

What does the corduroy texture feel like?

The pile is worked in fine vertical ribs, the wales, that run over the cap and down the base, giving it a soft, tactile surface you can see catching the light.
