colleen-wavy-stoneware-plant-pot-cream
Colleen Wavy Stoneware Plant Pot - Cream

Description

This round stoneware plant pot has a ruffled, wavy rim and a body built up in soft, stacked ridges that narrow towards a small foot, like a shell turned on its end. It stands 21cm tall and measures 22.5cm across, a comfortable size for a medium houseplant on a table or shelf, where it holds its own without crowding the space. The cream glaze has bubbled and pitted across the whole outside, with fine darker speckles gathering in the hollows and a paler sheen on the raised waves, so the surface looks rather like sea foam caught on a rock.

Give it a place in a living room, on a sideboard, a bookshelf or a hallway console, or on a bedside table where its texture rewards a closer look. Ferns, small palms and trailing plants all suit it, as their leaves soften the rippled rim and spill over the ridges. It works just as well without soil: the wide, open mouth takes a loose bunch of dried flowers or seed heads, which keeps the look going through the winter months. It suits anyone who likes ceramics that feel organic and a little irregular.

The pot is made entirely of stoneware, glazed over the outside, with a narrow band of bare clay showing at the foot. Stoneware is fired hard and dense, and at 1.6KG this piece has a reassuring weight that feels solid in the hand. The maker notes that, due to the nature of the glaze, colour variations may occur, so the bubbles, speckles and depth of cream may differ a little from pot to pot. For styling, set it on stone, marble or pale wood, where the cream glaze and the bubbled texture show at their best, and leave a little space around it so the waves of the rim can be seen from every side.

Specification

Height

21cm

Diameter

22.5cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Cream

Finish

Due to nature of the glaze colour variations may occur

Weight

1.6KG

Frequently Asked

What material is this plant pot?

It is made of 100% stoneware, finished on the outside with a cream glaze that has bubbled into a pitted, speckled texture across the ridged body.

How big is it?

It stands 21cm tall and measures 22.5cm across, and it weighs 1.6KG, so it suits a medium houseplant on a table, shelf or sideboard.

Does the glaze vary from pot to pot?

Yes, it can.
