What gives it its character is the glaze: a multicoloured finish that runs down from the rim in long, uneven drips and settles into a speckled surface across the body and the foot. It weighs 0.342KG, a compact piece that sits comfortably on a busy shelf or a narrow windowsill without crowding its neighbours.

Stand a slim taper candle upright at its centre and it becomes a small, warm point of light for a dining table, a mantelpiece or a bedside table on dark winter evenings. At 9cm tall it is a low, easy-going piece, well suited to a sideboard, a hallway console or a bookshelf next to a stack of well-loved books, where a tall candlestick might feel too formal. Grouped with other candle holders along a table runner, it makes a relaxed centrepiece for a gathering with friends, and on its own it brings texture and colour to a plain desk or a quiet reading nook.

Stoneware is fired at high temperatures, which makes it dense and hard-wearing. The glaze is worth understanding before you order: the maker notes that, due to the nature of the glaze, colour variations may occur, so the drips, speckles and shading can differ from one candle holder to the next. The styling props shown are not included, the candle among them. For a calm look, choose a candle in a muted tone that picks up one of the shades in the glaze, or let the holder stand alone on a plain wooden shelf where its drips can catch the light.

Specification

Height

9cm

Diameter

10cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Multi

Finish

Due to nature of the glaze colour variations may occur

Weight

0.342KG

Frequently Asked

What material is the candle holder?

It is made of 100% stoneware, finished in a multicoloured glaze that runs down from the scalloped rim in uneven drips.

How big is it?

It measures 10cm across and 9cm tall and weighs 0.342KG, a compact size for a shelf, a windowsill or a bedside table.

Will every candle holder look the same?

Not necessarily.
