chikuma-wall-decoration-56cm
Chikuma Wall Decoration 56cm

Description

The Chikuma wall decoration is a branching sprig in metal, its slender stems rising from a single gathered base and spreading out into dozens of small round discs that read like leaves or seed heads. The body is steel in a brass colour, which brings a warm gold tone to a plain wall. It measures 56cm across and 80cm tall, yet sits just 2.2cm deep, so it lies close to the wall and keeps a slim line when seen from the side. It weighs 2.24KG.

Being taller than it is wide, the sprig suits an upright stretch of wall: above a console table or sideboard in a hallway, beside a doorway, or over a chest of drawers in a bedroom. In a living room with pale walls, the brass colour catches light from a nearby lamp or window and gives the room a focal point that is not another framed print. The open design lets the wall colour show through between the branches, so it looks lighter than a solid panel of the same size and sits happily alongside greens, creams and warm woods. We see it as an easy way to dress a bare wall in an indoor room.

Steel gives the branches a firm structure, so the stems hold their shape and the discs stay evenly spread. Each disc sits at the tip of its own fine stem, and the discs vary a little in tone, from pale gold to a deeper antique shade, which gives the surface depth rather than a flat, uniform sheen. Before you hang it, hold it against the wall to judge the spacing, allowing clear wall around it so the branches have room. At 2.24KG, choose a wall fixing that suits your wall and that weight.

Specification

Material

Metal

Colour

Brass

Body Material

Steel

Body Colour

Brass

Length

56cm

Width

2.2cm

Height

80cm

Weight

2.24KG

Frequently Asked

How big is the Chikuma wall decoration?

It measures 56cm across and 80cm tall, and it sits just 2.2cm deep, so it stays close to the wall.

Is it solid brass?

No, the body is steel in a brass colour, so you get the warm gold tone of brass across every stem and disc.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 2.24KG, so it is worth choosing a wall fixing that suits both your wall and that weight.

Which rooms suit it best?

It suits an upright stretch of wall, such as above a console table or sideboard in a hallway, or over a chest of drawers in a bedroom.

Can it hang outdoors?

We recommend it for indoor rooms only, such as a living room, hallway or bedroom, where it stays dry.
