castrovido-bathroom-wall-light-chrome
Castrovido Bathroom Wall Light - Chrome

Description

The Castrovido is a bathroom wall light that pairs a pebble-shaped chrome backplate with a white globe shade, held on a short chrome holder. The body is steel with a bright chrome finish. The shade is matt opal glass, which spreads light softly and evenly. It measures 23.5cm in length, 21.5cm in width and 15.5cm in height. The light source is a G9 bulb at 4.2W, giving 320lm. With an IP44 rating it is protected from splashing water, so it can sit on a bathroom wall where an ordinary indoor light could not.

We find it works best beside a bathroom mirror. A pair, one on either side of the glass, gives even light across the face for shaving, make-up and the everyday routine. The rounded backplate catches the glow and reflects it onto the wall, while the globe keeps the light gentle rather than harsh. Chrome sits comfortably with chrome taps and towel rails, so it ties in with most bathrooms. It suits en-suites, family bathrooms and cloakrooms alike. As with any wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and in a bathroom a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone.

There is no switch on the light itself. It is controlled from the wall switch, which keeps the backplate clean and uncluttered. Steel is strong and rigid, so the body holds its shape, and the packed weight is 1.127KG. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains and has an energy class of E. The installation instructions are available as a download. Glass wipes clean with a soft, damp cloth. Chrome shows water marks readily, so a quick pass with a dry cloth keeps it bright in a steamy room.

Specification

Length

23.5cm

Width

21.5cm

Height

15.5cm

Body Material

Steel

Body Colour

Chrome

Shade Material

Matt-opal glass

Shade Colour

White

Light Source

G9 (bulb included)

Wattage

4.2W

Lumens

320lm

Switch

None (switched at the wall)

IP Rating

IP44

Protection Class

Class II

Voltage

220-240V, 50/60Hz

Energy Class

E

Weight (packed)

1.127KG

Downloads

Installation Instructions (PDF)

Frequently Asked

Can the Castrovido go in a bathroom?

Yes.
