A large glass globe turned with a broad spiral flute, the ribs running from the collar down and round to the base so the surface catches light in soft diagonal bands. The glass is a warm cream, translucent rather than opal, so it reads as a soft butter tone unlit and glows amber when the lamp is on. A polished brass cap sits over the top of the globe like a shallow dish, with a short brass stem and a white flex above it. The brass is left bright rather than aged. There is no visible fixing on the glass itself. It measures 20cm across and the same in height, in glass and metal.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt suits a table, an island or a hallway, hung low enough to be looked at rather than into. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it. Hung at that height the shade is read as an object in the room rather than as a source, and the light lands on the table instead of in the eyes of the people round it.
