calmeilles-10-light-ceiling-light-brass
Calmeilles 10 Light Ceiling Light - Brass

Description

The Calmeilles is a round, tiered ceiling light that fixes close to the ceiling and cascades downwards in rows of rectangular brilliant glass drops, each held in a slim brass frame. The body is steel in a brass finish, and the clear glass is cut with angled facets that split light into small flecks of colour. It stands 59cm high and 63cm across, a generous size that gives a room a proper centrepiece. Inside sit ten E14 lampholders, each taking a bulb of up to 25W, and the bulbs are not included, so you choose the warmth of light yourself. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

Mounted directly on the ceiling with no chain or rod, it gives the sparkle of a chandelier in a neater shape. At 63cm across it suits a dining room above the table, the centre of a living room, a wide hallway or landing, or a main bedroom with space around the bed. It is a good choice for anyone who wants a dressier light in a period home or a modern one, and the warm brass sits comfortably beside dark paint, wood and marble. Even with the bulbs off, the glass and gleaming brass frames catch daylight, so the fitting keeps working as decoration through the day.

There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so it works from the switch already in your room. As a wired-in mains light running on 220-240V, 50/60Hz, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. The packed weight is 18.5KG, so it is worth having help to unpack and lift it. When you buy bulbs, look for an E14 cap at 25W or less, and you will need ten to fill every holder.

Specification

Height

59cm

Diameter

63cm

Body Material

Steel

Body Colour

Brass

Shade Material

Brilliant glass

Shade Colour

Clear

Light Source

E14 (bulb not included)

Wattage

Max 10 x 25W

Switch

None (switched at the wall)

IP Rating

IP20

Protection Class

Class I

Voltage

220-240V, 50/60Hz

Weight (packed)

18.5KG

Downloads

Installation Instructions (PDF)

Frequently Asked

Can the Calmeilles go in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it is made for dry indoor rooms such as a living room, dining room, hallway or bedroom, and it should be kept away from bathrooms and outdoor spaces.

What bulbs does this ceiling light take?

It takes ten E14 bulbs, each up to 25W.
