buckthorn-animal-velvet-door-stop-evergreen
Buckthorn Animal Velvet Door Stop - Evergreen

Description

This is a velvet door stop from the Buckthorn range, printed with a woodland scene of hand-drawn animals. Look closely at the photograph and you will find a fox sitting upright, a pair of rabbits, an owl and a bear, picked out in soft greys and whites and set among trailing leaves, ferns and toadstools. The whole design sits on a deep evergreen ground, and the reverse and the top are a plain velvet in the same green, so the piece reads as one colour from across the room and reveals its detail as you come closer.

A door stop earns its place by holding a door exactly where you want it, and this one is made for a room where the door tends to drift. The upright, roughly cuboid shape and the sewn fabric loop at the top make it easy to carry from room to room and simple to lift out of the way when you want the door to swing freely again. The woodland print and the earthy green suit a hallway, a bedroom or a snug where a little pattern is welcome, and it sits happily alongside plainer soft furnishings without competing with them.

The cover is velvet, which gives it a soft, light-catching pile and a weight of colour that flat cotton does not have. It is filled with polyester and sand, the sand adding the heft a door stop needs to stay put against a moving door. The loop doubles as a storage handle for the times it lives in a cupboard between uses. If you like the print, the supplier makes a matching Buckthorn draught excluder and duvet set, so the same woodland scene can carry across a room.

Specification

Material

100% polyester

Design

Buckthorn woodland animal print, evergreen ground

Construction

Printed velvet front, plain velvet reverse, sewn carry loop, polyester and sand fill

Sold as

Single door stop

Frequently Asked

What is the door stop made from?

The cover is velvet in 100% polyester, with a printed woodland design on the front and a plain evergreen velvet reverse and top.

What makes it heavy enough to hold a door?

It is filled with a mix of polyester and sand, and the sand gives it the weight it needs to stay in place against a door that wants to swing.

Is there a way to carry it?

Yes, there is a sewn fabric loop at the top that serves as both a carry handle and something to hang it by when you store it away.

What animals are in the print?

The design shows hand-drawn woodland creatures including a fox, rabbits, an owl and a bear, set among leaves, ferns and toadstools on a green ground.

Where does it work best in the home?

It suits a hallway, bedroom or snug where you want a door held open and a little woodland pattern adds to a relaxed, rustic feel.
