brock-glass-vase-50cm-grey
Brock Glass Vase 50cm - Grey

Description

This is a tall grey glass vase, mouth-blown and covered from rim to base in a dense vertical relief that looks almost like running water frozen in place. It stands 50cm tall and 22cm across, swelling gently through the middle and narrowing towards both the rim and the base, so the outline is soft rather than straight-sided. The surface is glossy, and the raised ridges catch the light differently as you move around the room, which gives the glass plenty of interest even when the vase stands empty. At 2KG it is a substantial piece of glass with a reassuring heft in the hand.

At this height it stands happily on the floor, or on a low plinth, bench or sideboard, where it gives a living room, hallway or bedroom some welcome height. The opening is narrower than the body, which gathers long stems together and keeps them standing tall: dried grasses, seed heads, eucalyptus and flowering branches all suit it, and a glass vase takes fresh flowers in water just as readily. Grey glass sits quietly beside warm wood, linen and pale plaster walls, so it adds texture and shape to a room without bringing in a colour that competes with everything else.

The vase is made of 100% glass and is mouth-blown, which means each one is shaped individually, so expect small differences in outline and texture from one vase to the next; they are part of what makes hand-blown glass worth having. Because the relief covers the whole surface, the stems inside appear softened and slightly blurred through the glass. We like it best given space of its own and filled with a few tall stems rather than a crowded bunch, so the shape and the texture do the work. The styling props shown are not included.

Specification

Height

50cm

Diameter

22cm

Material

100% Glass

Colour

Grey

Finish

Mouthblown

Weight

2KG

Frequently Asked

How big is the vase?

It is 50cm tall and 22cm across, which makes it tall enough to stand on the floor or on a low plinth or sideboard.

What material is the vase?

It is made of 100% glass and is mouth-blown, so small differences in outline and texture from one vase to the next are to be expected.

What does the surface look like?

The glass is grey, with a glossy surface and a dense vertical relief that runs over the whole vase from rim to base.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 2KG, so it is a substantial piece of glass and not a lightweight vase.

Can I use it for fresh flowers?

Yes.
