branton-glass-christmas-candle-holders-set-of-2-clear
Branton Glass Christmas Candle Holders Set of 2 - Clear

Description

These are a pair of clear glass candle holders, each one mouthblown and made to be brought out every December. Both share the same shape: a fluted cup with a softly scalloped rim, a slender straight stem and a ribbed foot that flares out like a skirt. Partway up the stem is the detail that makes them: one holder carries a sculpted glass wreath tied with a bow, the other a little tiered Christmas tree dotted with tiny baubles. Each holder is 8cm across and 21cm tall, which gives a slim dinner candle real height without the whole thing feeling heavy on the table.

Because there are two, they work as a pair: either end of a mantelpiece, side by side on a hall console, or flanking a centrepiece on the Christmas dining table. Clear glass picks up the light of the flame and whatever sits behind it, so they suit a pale painted wall as happily as a dark wooden dresser. The festive motifs are small and set on the stem, which keeps them charming rather than novelty, and they sit comfortably among greenery, baubles and other glassware through the whole of the season. They also make a thoughtful gift for a host at Christmas, since the pair is ready to stand together.

Each holder is blown by mouth rather than pressed in a mould, and mouthblown glass naturally carries small differences from piece to piece, in the line of a rib or the curve of a rim. We think that is part of the charm: no two are quite alike. The fine ribbing on the cup and the foot catches candlelight and throws it back in soft lines. For the neatest look, pair them with plain tapers of the same height, so the wreath and the tree stay the focus; the candles and styling props shown are not included.

Specification

Height

21cm

Diameter

8cm

Sold as

Set of 2

Material

100% Glass

Colour

Clear

Finish

Mouthblown

Weight

0.12KG

Frequently Asked

What are the candle holders made of?

They are 100% glass and each one is mouthblown, so the cup, the stem, the foot and the little wreath and tree motifs are all glass.

How big are the candle holders?

Each holder is 8cm across and 21cm tall, slim enough for a mantelpiece or a narrow console and tall enough to lift a dinner candle well above the table.

Are the two holders the same design?

They share the same fluted cup, slender stem and ribbed foot, but the decoration differs: one has a glass wreath with a bow, the other a tiered Christmas tree.

How many candle holders are in the set?

The set is two candle holders, one with the wreath and one with the tree, made to stand together as a pair on a table or mantelpiece.

Are candles included?

No. You receive the two glass candle holders only; the candles and the other styling props shown are not included.
