bitte-stoneware-platters-set-of-2-multi
Bitte Stoneware Platters Set of 2 - Multi

Description

This is a pair of handpainted stoneware serving platters that tell a little story between them. The round platter is 19cm across and 5cm tall, with a sleeping striped cat sculpted at one edge and a small bird perched on the cat's back, while a trail of paw prints wanders across to the far side. Its partner is a crescent, 23cm long, 12cm wide and 1.5cm tall, painted with a fish skeleton, more paw prints and scattered dots, as if the cat had already finished its supper. Both pieces are made entirely of stoneware and decorated by hand in multicoloured paint.

At 19cm across, the round platter is the size of a side plate, right for a slice of cake, a couple of biscuits or a sandwich, with the cat keeping to one side. The slim crescent suits food that sits in a line: crackers, olives, sliced fruit, or the spoon and teabag beside a pot of tea. Both are made for food, so they can work as everyday plates in the kitchen or come out for afternoon tea at the dining table. They make a cheerful gift for anyone who loves cats, and the pair look just as happy on a dresser between meals.

Stoneware is dense and hard-wearing, which suits plates meant for daily use. Both pieces go in the dishwasher and the microwave, and they can go in the oven too, handy for warming a pastry. Together they weigh 0.86KG. The brushwork shows in the surface, part of the charm of decoration done by hand, so every stroke of the paw prints and stripes has a little character of its own. For the table, set the round platter at the centre of a small tea spread and lay the crescent alongside with its paw prints running the same way, so the trail carries on from one piece to the other.

Specification

Plate 1

Width 12cm, Length 23cm, Height 1.5cm

Plate 2

Height 5cm, Diameter 19cm

Sold as

Set of 2

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Multi

Finish

Handpainted

Dishwasher safe

Yes

Microwave safe

Yes

Oven safe

Yes

Food safe

Yes

Weight

0.86KG

Frequently Asked

What are the platters made of?

Both platters are made of 100% stoneware and decorated by hand, with a sculpted cat and bird on the round one.

Can they go in the dishwasher, microwave and oven?

Yes.
