The neck is woven tight and close, ring above ring; the body is woven open, an irregular lattice of crossing canes with gaps wide enough to see straight through. The rattan is left natural, a warm mid brown that varies from cane to cane. It measures 47cm tall and 39cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAn open weave does not soften light so much as break it up: the bulb stays visible through the lattice and the shade throws a net of shadow onto the ceiling and the walls around it. It is made for ceiling use only, so it takes a pendant fitting and will not sit on a table lamp.
